Safety - Security - Service Those are the precepts on which we base our business. Providing the very best investigative services, while offering value-added service, such as educating clients on ways to reduce exposure to loss, including ways to increase security, safety and improve their bottom line.
Did you know? Independent accident investigators in the State of California are required to be Licensed Private Investigators? Most independent safety "consultants" do not have such licensure, and as a result, their investigations can be called into question if your case comes under intense scrutiny. The reports and other information can be deemed inadmissible and all your time and money can be wasted; worse, the issues surrounding the loss may well remain unabated. This is not to say that many of thse consultants don't do a very creditable job, because they do; just that the State requires licensure under the Private Investigator Act, and most do not have that license.

What do you need? We offer numerous services geared to your requirements, not some "cookie cutter" program that is designed to fit all, but never does. From the first overview of your safety and security program, to an analysis of what we believe needs to be accomplished to bolster those programs to increase protection, you receive individual service from a professional. Do you need a physical premises security analysis, interior and exterior? Employee surveillance? Fleet surveillance? Safety training? Threat analysis, either terrorist or internal? Disaster recovery and business continuation recommendations based on real-life scenarios? Disaster drills and determination of their effectiveness?
Preparation is key. What would you do in the event your employees couldn't get to work tomorrow morning? Have you even thought about that possibility? Too many businesses think about the disaster that occurs when the employees are at work, and how to deal with their needs for a specific period of time. Few give much thought to how they will continue in the event the infrastructure of the community fails for an extended period of time. Others think about the opposite and don't plan for the employees trapped at work without sufficient facilities, food, water, or even worse, without life-supporting medications. How do you measure up in these areas? Call us for some help in pre-planning that we all hope you'll never need!
Accidents don't just have to happen. Although some people believe accidents are part of life, we believe almost all accidents are preventable through education, training, monitoring and enforcement.
Accident prevention starts long before the employee starts on the job. It begins with a solid hiring process that sets the standard and helps determine the best person to fill the needs of the position. Who has the skills and training for the job? Who can be trained for the job. What demands will be placed on the individual, both mental and physical? What strength is required, visual acuity, reflexes, reading ability, comprehension of instructions and signage. Can the person work with a minimum of supervision. How about past work history and performance? What type of post employment offer testing will you perform? Will a physical examination be required along with drug and alcohol screening? These are all keystones of the hiring process that starts you off on having the right person available for the job long before the orientation or training begins.
Training needs to consist of more than a cursory introduction to the equipment or the vehicle. If you're hiring a driver, a complete training program is needed, regardless of whether the new employee has a year or ten years of prior experience. After all, he's new to your organization and he needs to understand exactly how your company does things and what's expected. Simply going over the safety rules and turning a new employee loose in a vehicle is poor business logic. In commercial operations, it's your reputation that's on the line with each and every mile a vehicle travels, and a bad driver that somehow slips through a poorly designed program is like a parachute with a hole. It won't be too long before he becomes a severe liability to your company.
Lots of companies use 800 numbers on their vehicles for driver monitoring. But, a surprisingly low percentage of those vehicles actually receive calls on their performance. As a result, you can have poor operators and never know about them until the big accident, or the loss of a major customer when the unthinkable happens. Sometimes, actual road monitoring is the way to set the standard in driver observation, where you can target specific, or all drivers, and have a positive image of their actions behind the wheel.
We offer road observation programs tailored to fit your needs, including speed checks using state of the art digital radar systems with same direction, same lane capability. That means we can clock vehicles traveling in the same direction, in front or in back of our vehicles and accurately assess their speed without having to be stationary on the side of the road. We also offer accident investigation services to assist in determining the cause of losses. |

PARATRANSIT:
A transportation company in a large city was having a rash of rear-end collisions. We provided radar speed monitoring and established a driver program to reward safe drivers and penalize those who failed to observe speed and traffic laws. We were available when local law enforcement could not devote time and manpower to each problem area, and as a result, helped bring the accident numbers to zero within 30 days of the program start.
LIGHT RAIL:
A light rail system in pre-startup mode used us as outside consultants to provide an overview of safety and security on the new line. We provided review of station and platform plans, LRV utilization, how the right-of way would interface with industrial, commercial and residential areas, the problems of unauthorized public access and how to best guard crossings utilized by vehicular and pedestrian traffic, in accordance with not only existing law, but also best practices. We examined bridges, tunnels and structures, not as engineering specialists, but to alert the client about issues that could impact them in the future, especially those with a significant liability potential. One thrust to our service was to provide input to the excess insurance carrier regarding disaster potentials, thus minimizing concerns about a new venture. This system was, and remains, one of the most successful light rail operations in the United States.
CUSTOM AUTOMOBILES/ HOLLYWOOD PRODUCTIONS:
A client provided very high quality automobiles for Hollywood sound stage productions and action movies, including custom cars and trucks for many movies. His current paint spray booth was unable to maintain the speed and quality needed to allow vehicles that were damaged during filming to be repaired, repainted and returned to the production lots for next-day filming. We worked with them to spec high quality equipment that would be much safer than the old equipment that was in use. In addition, the new booth allowed the vehicles to be heated, painted and dried all in one operation, reducing turn around time significantly. As a result, the client installed three similar booths and increased production, and business, as well as the safety of the operation.
FROZEN FOODS:
A large sub-zero refrigerated warehouse was involved in a fire that resulted in minimal actual property damage, but tens of millions of dollars in lost stock. Electrical power to the warehouse was cut by the responding fire department, and could not be restored before frozen food stock warmed to a level considered unacceptable for sale. The refrigeration system was completely intact, but since no power could be supplied to the compressors, the system sat idle.
Backup diesel generators were discussed, but the amount of power necessary to support this 400,000 square foot building's refrigeration system would be infeasible. We recommended the installation of a diesel driven backup compressor system that would supply refrigeration to the warehouse, completely independent of outside electrical needs. Even though the cost was approximately $250,000, the client agreed this was a solid recommendation and moved forward with the installation in a separate fire-resistive building away from the main warehouse.
In addition to having a backup system available, the client found they could save $12.000 per month by running the new system daily during the peak electrical demand period rather than use utility generated electricity. Thus, in two years, the system not only paid for itself, but provides a long-term security cushion against loss of refrigeration for the warehouse. And, every month actually makes money for the client!
